
At a grand event in Mumbai, the magazine was launched along with the world’s first journalist anthem; MLA Sanjay Upadhyay announced assistance to provide housing for Gujarati journalists without homes
Mumbai,The Mumbai Gujarati Patrakar Sangh, an organisation serving journalists in Mumbai for the past 53 years, marked a significant milestone with the grand launch of its digital monthly magazine Gujarati Patrakar Vishwa on the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritya, Sunday. Alongside the magazine, a first-of-its-kind journalist anthem, never before created in any language, was also unveiled at the event. The event was attended by several leading active and retired journalists, as well as prominent political figures. The launch marks a promising new beginning for the Gujarati journalism community in Mumbai.


Editor – Gujarati Patrakar Vishwa
The unveiling ceremony of Gujarati Patrakar Vishwa and the journalist anthem took place on Sunday, 19 April, at Atal Smruti Bhavan in Borivali. All officebearers of the Mumbai Gujarati Patrakar Sangh were present. Senior journalists including Janak Shah (former Editor, Gujarati Mid-Day), Bhalchandra Jani (Resident Editor, Gujarat Samachar, Mumbai), and Hiren Mehta (Editor, Chitralekha), along with many others, attended the event and praised the Sangh’s initiative.
The event was graced by the presence of Adya Shankaracharya Pujya Trikalbhavanta Saraswatiji Maharaj (the only woman Shankaracharya), Borivali MLA Sanjay Upadhyay, former MP of North Mumbai Gopal Shetty, Dahisar MLA Manisha Chaudhary, Deputy Mayor of Mumbai Sanjay Ghadi, MCA Apex Council member Bhushan Patil, corporators Tejaswi Ghosalkar, Jignasa Shah, Jitendra Patel, former corporator Pravin Shah, Jagdish Oza, and other dignitaries.
They all extended their best wishes for this new initiative and wholeheartedly appreciated both the magazine and the journalist anthem. On this occasion, MLA Sanjay Upadhyay announced that he would make sincere efforts to help provide housing in Borivali for members of the Mumbai Gujarati Patrakar Sangh who currently do not own homes in Mumbai. He added, “Borivali has the highest concentration of journalists in Mumbai. I would be extremely pleased to see more Gujarati journalists settle here.” The announcement was met with enthusiastic applause.

Notably, the cover of this remarkable magazine features an evocative image of Narmad, regarded as the father of Gujarati journalism. The 128-page digital monthly offers diverse reading material, high-quality language, and a rich variety of topics. Sanjay Vinaychandra Shah, Editor, Gujarati Patrakar Vishwa is a senior journalist. He is a columnist with Gujarat Samachar and the Editor of Janmabhoomi’s ‘Yatrabhoomi’ travel supplement. Sanjay is also a renowned playwright. The magazine has been made possible through his efforts along with Sangh President Kunesh Dave (Political Reporter, Gujarat Samachar, Mumbai). With strong support from all officebearers and advertisers, Gujarati journalism has perhaps received a unique monthly publication, created by journalists, for journalists.
To ensure wider reach, the Mumbai Gujarati Patrakar Sangh has also launched a WhatsApp channel, making Gujarati Patrakar Vishwa easily accessible to all Gujaratis. Anyone can search for and follow the channel to access the magazine.
